Dr. Brianna Joseph (Books open)

Daughter to both Dr. Michael Joseph and Nurse Judy Joseph, Dr. Brianna Joseph has always had medicine running through her veins. As a teenager, she joined Blacksmiths Family Medical practice as a receptionist for 11 years, developing a connection with many of the loyal patients that still attend the practice.
These days, Dr. Brianna has not only become one of the most reliable and thorough GP's in Blacksmiths, but she has also become a co-owner of the practice, alongside both her father and her mother and has been a doctor for 10 years.
Dr. Brianna Joseph completed her medical degree at the University of Newcastle in 2012. Boasting not one, but two degrees (Bachelor of Biomedical Science and a Bachelor of Medicine) she has always demonstrated the drive and passion necessary for family medicine.
Dr. Brianna Joseph brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Blacksmiths Family Medical Practice. Completing her specialist General Practice training in 2017 becoming a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
Her career has allowed her to practice medicine in a variety of rural locations as well as various practices across the Newcastle and the Hunter Region. She shows a keen interest in Antenatal Care, Paediatrics, Skin cancer medicine, Chronic disease management, Sexual Health and is an LGBTQIA+ ally.

In 2021 Dr Brianna joined the COVID Care in the Community team providing urgent care to the hunter and surrounds throughout the whole pandemic. She still has a passion for COVID providing urgent treatment to practice patients often.
​
In 2022 Dr Brianna completed the Skin Cancer College of Australasia certificate of Skin Cancer Medicine, allowing her to provide thorough skin checks and perform skin cancer management, including lesion removal, to an exceptional level.
Dr Brianna is lucky enough to have two young boys and shows passion and understanding to children and families only a mother can.

Her current availability is Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursday & Fridays.

Dr Bastian Joseph (books open)
​
Dr Bastian Joseph will be joining the practice from 19/03/2024.
​
Dr Bastian completed his medical degree at Griffith University and worked as a doctor at the Gold Coast University Hospital for 2 years.
​
Starting his GP training in 2022, he worked locally at Windale and Valentine.
Dr Bastian has completed his specialist training in General Practice with the Australian Collage of General Practitioners.
He has special interests in chronic disease management, mens health, mental health and preventative health.
Outside of work, he will be with his family, spending time with his baby daughter or at the golf course playing with his dad, Dr Michael Joseph.

Dr Bastian's commencing hours will be 8am-12.45pm, 2pm-5.30pm (Tuesday, Thursday & Friday), 7am to 11.45am (Wednesdays).

Dr Michael Joseph (books closed)
Dr. Michael Joseph originally founded Blacksmiths Family Medical Practice in March 1981. Having successfully built and run his family-owned practice for 42 years, he is now enjoying sharing this with his children.
Being able to work alongside his family has always been a dream. His passion for his family unit translates to the high quality of care he provides his patients.
Dr. Michael Joseph has worked as a GP for over 42 years. He has always endeavoured to work closely with his patients to assess their overall health while simultaneously building a trustworthy reputation within the Blacksmiths community and Newcastle.
Dr. Michael Joseph enjoys all aspects of General Medicine. Having graduated from the University of New South Wales in 1978, with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (with Honours). Dr. Michael Joseph has developed special areas of interest within his field, including Dermatology and Cardiology.
General Practice is not just a profession for Dr. Michael Joseph, but a passion.
